Updated Masking Policy

HIDOE Updated Masking Policy for School

March 28, 2022 (Updated April 18, 2022)

When the Governor's Emergency Proclamation ends, the Department's masking guidance will continue to be in effect until further notice:

Masks must be worn by everyone at a HIDOE school campus or facility when indoors.

Under the state Department of Health's latest guidance for K-12 schools, individual close contact identification, and notification and quarantine of exposures is no longer required only if universal indoor masking is implemented.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at (808)307-4700.

On Monday, April 18, Superintendent Keith Hayashi released a letter for families on the universal indoor masking policy. As of this letter, indoor masking will remain in effect until May 27, 2022.

On a HIDOE school campus or facility, masks are required indoor at all times. However masks are optional outdoors.
